Rahma Journal (“Rahma”) is built by Ajnabi Designs. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. It covers the Rahma app, the Rahma Letter (our optional email newsletter) and this website.

Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide Rahma’s features:

  • Account information: your email address and display name when you create an account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only what those services share (typically your name and email).
  • Journal entries: mood, patience and energy scores, reflection text, and duas you write in the journal.
  • Motherhood-stage tracking data: depending on the stages you select, this may include Salah (prayer) logging, hydration and self-care tracking, prenatal or postnatal vitamin reminders, pregnancy symptom logs, and postpartum or loss-and-healing recovery logs. Some of this data is health-adjacent (symptom and recovery information) or reflects religious practice (Salah logging); we treat both as sensitive and apply the same protections as your journal content.
  • Your children’s details: for each child you add, the name you give (optional), their motherhood stage, and, where you enter them, their birth date, due date, or the date of a loss. We treat these details as sensitive and protect them the same way as your journal content.
  • Checklists and Memory Book entries: stage-specific checklists and milestone or keepsake entries you create.
  • Profile preferences: motherhood stage(s), notification settings, and display settings. Used only to personalise your experience.
  • Email preferences: whether you’ve chosen to receive the Rahma Letter, when, and where in the app you chose it.
  • How you heard about Rahma: if you answer this optional question when you sign up, we keep your answer to understand which ways of sharing Rahma reach mothers. It isn’t used for advertising.
  • Location: used on your device to calculate prayer times. Your location is never stored on our servers or transmitted anywhere.
  • Device and usage information: anonymous crash and performance data, and app usage events (such as purchases completed, journal entries saved, and feature usage), collected via Firebase Analytics. This is not linked to your journal content.

None of this content is ever shared publicly or used for advertising.

How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the app’s features
  • To sync your journal, favourites and preferences across devices
  • To send notifications you have explicitly enabled (prayer times, daily reminders). These are scheduled and delivered locally on your device
  • To process your Premium purchase through Apple or Google’s payment systems, via our purchase management provider
  • To generate the personalised weekly reflection and pattern insights shown in your Insights. This involves sending relevant journal data to our AI provider for processing (see Third-party services below)
  • To send account emails you need, such as password resets
  • To send the Rahma Letter, only if you choose to receive it. We never add you without your choice, and we never use your journal, tracking data or children’s details to write or target it

We do not sell your data. We do not use your journal content to train AI models, and content sent for insight generation is used solely to produce the reflection shown back to you.

Third-party services

  • Supabase: our backend database and authentication provider. Data is stored on servers in the United States.
  • RevenueCat: manages your Premium purchase status and purchase history on our behalf, so we can keep your Premium access accurate across devices. RevenueCat does not have access to your journal content.
  • Apple / Google: purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not store payment information.
  • Firebase Analytics: collects anonymous app usage and event data to help us understand how Rahma is used and improve it. This data is not linked to your journal content.
  • Anthropic (Claude): when generating your personalised weekly reflection and pattern insights, relevant journal data is sent to Anthropic’s Claude for processing. This content is used only to generate the response shown to you and is not used to train Anthropic’s models.
  • Resend: sends account emails such as password resets. It receives your email address only.
  • Kit: sends the Rahma Letter. If you choose to receive it, Kit receives your email address and first name. Kit never receives your journal, tracking data or children’s details.

The Rahma Letter

The Rahma Letter is optional. You can stop it at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every letter, or by turning off The Rahma Letter in the app (Profile → Edit Profile). When you unsubscribe or delete your Rahma account, we remove you from the mailing list.

This website

This website uses cookieless analytics to count visits. It doesn’t set tracking cookies or follow you across other sites. If you sign up for the Rahma Letter here, Kit receives the email address and name you enter, as described above.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time directly within the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by contacting us at the address below. See the Account deletion section for full details on what is removed and what may be separately retained.

Account deletion

You can delete your Rahma account at any time directly within the app: open Rahma → tap Profile → scroll to Delete Account → confirm when prompted. Your account is permanently deleted immediately.

If you can’t access the app, email ajnabidesigns@gmail.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We’ll confirm once it’s done.

What is deleted: your account credentials (email address and password), all journal entries, all duas and content you have saved, your motherhood-stage tracking data, your children’s details, all checklists and Memory Book entries, all folders, and your profile and preferences. You are also removed from the Rahma Letter mailing list.

What may be retained: we do not retain any personal data after account deletion. Your purchase history may be separately retained by Apple, Google, or our purchase management provider (RevenueCat) as required for financial record-keeping. This is independent of your Rahma account and does not include your journal content. Anonymous, non-identifiable analytics data (such as app usage statistics collected via Firebase Analytics) is not linked to your account and cannot be used to identify you.

Children

Rahma is made for mothers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The details about your children that you choose to add are entered by you, the account holder. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To make a request, email us at ajnabidesigns@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
